MEET THE OWNER : David Sanmugam

I’m born and raised in South Africa. Emmigrated to the States in 1993 at the age of 15. My story of detailing begins with needing pocket money for school supplies and some new swag. Coming from Africa I did not fit in with my outdated gear. With the exchange rate, our South African Rand ran out quickly. My quest for odd end jobs in my neighborhood resulted in, just that, odds and ends. One Saturday morning I knocked on a neighbors door to offer my services for spare change. My neighbor responded “well I was just about to go get my car washed, could you wash my car? it would save me alot of time.” My response was of course. I quickly scrambled to find some carwash supplies which consisted of a bucket from under the kitchen sink, some old rags, a borrowed hose and some dish soap. The results were outstanding and my neighbor rewarded me with $10. From this moment, the next door I knocked on was “would you like your car washed?” As my knowledge grew, the light bulb turned on. A few weeks later on one Saturday I had 20 cars lined up in the parking lot of my apartment complex. I’d like to remind you that minimum wage was $4.25 at the time. Making $200 a day, for a 15 year old wash quite a big achievement. My passion for cars comes from hanging out with my Grandfather, while he worked on his bosses private classic car collection on the weekends. My passion to see how things are put together, comes from my Father who was a mechanical engineer. My business sense comes from my Mother, who has had many retail fashion stores and factories. My passion for accounting, comes from my Great Grandfather whom I watched doing bookkeeping on his antique desk on leather bound ledgers. As a kid, I disassembled and assembled every toy I was gifted. Before I even played with them. This business was founded from nothing, built on chance and fueled by passion. This passion goes into every car I touch. Whether we just wash your car or we are doing an expert paint correction, its what sets us apart from others.
